Our new son, Shaun Brandon, was born on March 1st at 10:13 a.m., 7 lbs 10 oz, 20 inches. He is doing wonderfully, eating and sleeping well, and taking in this new world. His birth story: We took Jacob to get his first haircut on Sunday, Feb. 28. During and throughout the morning, contractions were becoming stronger and more frequent, which made us wonder if something was happening. By the afternoon it was quite apparent that Tina was in labor. We called the doc in the evening and were told to wait to come in until contractions were 5-7 min apart, the standard. Brandon finally got some shut eye between midnight and 1 a.m. while Tina sat in bed dozing off between each painful contraction, each about 10 minutes apart. By 1 a.m. she couldn't take it anymore so we gathered our stuff and headed in. She was 4 cm at 3 a.m., and after a half hour of walking the empty halls to help the contractions become more frequent, it was time for the epidural. We both got a little more sleep and at 7 a.m. she was still dilated only 4 cm. Pitosin was started and when the doc checked at 10 a.m. she said, "let's have a baby!" We were shocked it was happening so quickly. Fifteen minutes and 3 pushes later, Shaun Brandon entered the world! We couldn't be happier. Jacob is adjusting very well, giving lots of hugs and kisses, and calling Shaun by his name, pronouncing it "Shy."
